Do you pull out your stem because you believe it will preserve the battery life of your watch? Yes, it does lengthen the battery life but we don't recommend it. Why?
Just like people, when a watch sits around with no exercise, it has serious consequences. There are tiny amounts of oil in the train of a quartz watch. Quartz watch gears are almost always made of plastic. It often takes a loupe to even be able to see the teeth on those gears. When the watch sits without working, the oils tend to coagulate. The result is that the watch will not work when the battery is replaced because the gear train is stuck. Then it may become necessary to replace the movement - a much more expensive result.
